Living in Oregon it was important to have the entire site for the two kilns under cover to allow us to fire the kilns year round. We began this project by building a covered pole-barn-type structure approximately 36' square and 18' tall at the center. The site was excavated from a hillside and the rough area/levels of the first kiln were developed. Don (Prey) had some previous experience with building a pole-barn so he took the lead in developing the plan for the cover structure. Then four novice construction workers set to building what for us was a rather large project. In the beginning was a hilla dream, and a sketch The last main post gets setRoof joists are put in place Roof is ready for metalSite cover almost completed We're ready to start building the noborigama kiln.
