Cleaning the outside ...

With the bowl shaped from the inside, clean up the outside using a metal rib. The objective is to get rid of the throwing rings/marks and, using your inside finger pressing out against the rib, finalize the contour of the bowl. Turn the rib, clean and compress the lip area as this is the most vulnerable part of any bowl.

 

Patience taken here will eliminate a lot of trimming and produce a more graceful shape.
